Nope. You just do not want to run on your tip-toes for long periods because it will hurt when you are done for the day. But there is nothing bad about it (besides your feet might hurt until you get used ot it). It is good for strengthening the muscles in your legs, like you said.

Running on the front of your feet is far superior to running heel to toe. The people that started changing the record books a hundred years ago, who didn't get injured ran this way in leather soled shoes. If you are a natural forefoot striker you will get injured much less. Run a grass track with no shoes on and you'll find that this is the natural way to run.

I don't consider it "bad" bullet dancers do that all the time.

but it is very exhuasting and if you dont do it right, you will injure your toes expecially when you are running. the best way to build up muscles in the back of your legs is go to the gym, or just running (not on your tip-toes.

Hope this helps, and good luck!

if u are doing sprinting or short distance.. is not that bad..better not apply tip-toeing if u are doing a 2.4km run or cross country.... it really make your muscles cramp in the back of your legs for a few days !

I'm a cosmetologist and I will tell you it's very bad to run/walk on your tip toes it can cause alot of nail damage in your toes so I wouldn't do it unless you want to have crooked nails.

yes because you could fall and break your neck just do a lot of relaves where your feet are flat and you go up on your toes then back down do that 100 times a day (i do ballet and i have very strong calves from doing that)

nope. but if you never stop walking on your tip toes you build up some kind of muscle in the arch of your foot which makes it painful and hard to walk flat-footed again.

but running, like exersizing, is fine.

hope i helped=]

No, at least form what I've heard, humans were built to stand on their front toes like dogs, but we've changed our stature for comfort, which can later cause back problems and whatnot. So yeah, I'm pretty sure it's better for you.

I used ot walk on my toes, and my calves are HUGE.

Well not literally, but they are big. They are bunched up at the top, and i wish i didnt walk on my toes..

but i dont think its bad.

Im getting used to walking heel to toe, and my heels hurt like *****

No, my friend is in flag football, he has absolutly FLAT feet and cant run on his full feet, he runs on his tiptoes so he can move to other areas of the field faster and his calfs are amazingly strong, its actually pretty good for your legs and taking less weight off your feet!

it can produce more speed as long as youre not on your tip-toes but actually the balls of your feet. if you watch olympic runners they run on the balls of their feet instead of flat footed. baseball players as well. but on your tip-toes can cause pain and even injury.

Probably, but I do that too.But I would think if you stretched your legs out well before and after running it wouldn't be that bad.

If you run backwards that helps your calves too.

If all your doing is sprinting then you should be running on your tippy toes.

Otherwise, i'm not sure

if your not flat footed..then you usually would be running on your tip toes. but if your flat footed, then you have the tendency of running heel-toe, heel-toe.

DONT LISTEN 2 THEM... RUNNING ON YOUR TIP-TOES IS THE ONLY WAY 2 GO. tRUST ME I RUN 4 UCLA, AND IF U STILL DONT WANNA LISTEN LOOK AT AN OLYMPIC RACE AND SLOW IT DOWN... EVERY SINGLE RUNNER RUNS ON THERE TOES. ITS NOT GOOD 2 RUN ON UR HEELS. TRUST ME TAKE MY ADVICE.

I do not think that it is the best method of building muscle. depending on your age, this could effect your growth. It would not make a drastic difference unless you did it all the time. Looking up workout routines on the internet could be helpful

It is a lot of shock/weight to put on the front of your foot. It might build up muscles, but doing it continuously will cause strain on your feet. It will also put pressure on your joints.
2009-01-22 17:01:44 UTC
Well, it depends on how far forward you run on them. If you do it regularly it could make your hamstrings tight. But most people run on the balls of their feet with strengthens you calves.

Well it depends the worst that could happen is tendinitis. That is when you tendon in the back of your ankle gets tight and may snap but it is not very likely.

If you don't do if for like 10 years. It screws up your legs if you do it that long
5 more minutes...

well ballerinas dance like that and do a kind of run like that while dancing so it cant be too bad but it will hurt.

No, as long as you stretch the legs to make sure you hyper tense the muscles you are strengthening
