So,these past few days i have been having really unusual chest pains.I have suffered from asthma in the past, but haven't had any kind of problems with it in years.Last night was the worse of the pains,it had me in tears.I took two puffs from my inhaler and a benadryl and went to bed, although it took me hours to fall asleep. The pain kind of feels like when you eat something really fast or something to big or bread and it gets stuck in your throat and slowly slides down. But it feels like its in my chest. My chest is also very heavy today, especially when i breathe in.It kind of feels like there is a lump in my chest, but a very very heavy one.I don't have any kind of cough,or fever. The pain is very hard to describe. Its especially uncomfortable when i lay down on my back.I was close to going to the hospital last night, but just thought i would sleep it off.I woke up with sharp pains, and then the heavy feeling.
Could this have anything to do with stress? Lately, there have been about a million and one things that are constantly on my mind, but would the pain just start now?
Any kind of insight on this would be helpful.
Thanks.

Could be a panic attack, but if you have a history of respiratory problems, call and get an appointment with your doctor, and tell them the whole story.

If it's a panic attack brought on by anxiety, they can suggest what treatment, if any, is best.

I had intermittent pain in my chest, right underneath my sternum, that was very sharp. I went to the ER to have it checked out. It turned out to be a hiatel hernia, my stomach ruptured through my diaphragm. I was sure I was having a heart attack. The pain was worse when I lied down. You should go to the Emergency Room if the pain persists, it could be something very serious, please don't ignore it. Good luck!
