Both strong opiates, both the most addictive drugs on the market. Not much difference in terms of analgesia. Oxycodone (Percocet) would probably be better though for sure, as morphine's oral bioavailability is rather low.

Percocet:Acetaminophen/Oxycodone

Why is Percocet prescribed?

Percocet, a narcotic analgesic, is used to treat moderate to moderately severe pain. It contains two drugs--acetaminophen and oxycodone. Acetaminophen is used to reduce both pain and fever. Oxycodone, a narcotic analgesic, is used for its calming effect and for pain.

Most important fact about Percocet

Percocet contains a narcotic and, even if taken only in prescribed amounts, can cause physical and psychological dependence when taken for a long time.

Morphine

What is Morphine IR (morphine)?

Morphine is in a group of drugs called narcotic pain relievers.

Morphine is used to treat moderate to severe pain. Short-acting morphine is taken as needed for pain. Extended-release morphine is for use when around-the-clock pain relief is needed.

Morphine is not for treating pain just after surgery unless you were already taking morphine before the surgery.

Morphine may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

What is the most important information I should know about Morphine IR (morphine)?

You may not be able to take this medicine unless you are already being treated with a similar opioid pain medicine and your body is tolerant to it. Talk with your doctor if you are not sure you are opioid-tolerant.

Morphine may be habit-forming and should be used only by the person it was prescribed for. Morphine should never be given to another person, especially someone who has a history of drug abuse or addiction. Keep the medication in a secure place where others cannot get to it. Do not drink alcohol while you are using morphine. Dangerous side effects or death can occur when alcohol is combined with morphine. Check your food and medicine labels to be sure these products do not contain alcohol.

Never take more than your prescribed dose of morphine. Tell your doctor if the medicine seems to stop working as well in relieving your pain.

Do not stop taking morphine suddenly, or you could have unpleasant withdrawal symptoms. Talk to your doctor about how to avoid withdrawal symptoms when stopping the medication.

it's better not to use Morphine, untill endstage pains....

As a cancer survivor I can honestly tell you morphine has allot more side effects then percocets morphine in pill form can cause alot of side effects which i got. If you are in severe pain i suggest you ask your doctor for the fedenal patch it does 24 hour pain relief all people experiencee different side effects but morphine in pill form not only gave me a full body rash it made me retain water and my ankles swelledd up so bad i had to be admitted to the hospital this is a question you can look up on line and as with any drug think about the side effects and take them only as proscribed there are millions of other drugs that can help severe pain good luck and always ask your doctor about the serious side effects morphine in pill form carries

This is really a vague question. Do you mean can you take them at the same time or can you take on because you don't have a problem with the other? If you are asking if you should take them at the same time, that's more a question for the doc, hopefully the same doc prescribed them and knows that you are using them together. If you are asking if you "can" take one because the other doesn't bother you then not necessarily. I am highly allergic to percocet, get hives, throught closes off, vomit for days after, but only have slight itching when morphine wears off, no hives or other side effects. Hope this helps.

I work in a pharmacy and it depends on if the morphine is extended release or IR (immediate release). I have filled prescriptions for Morphine ER, and Oxycodone (Percocet without the tylenol) for break through pain. I have never filled for Percocet and Morphine IR, since they are both immediate release. I have been on both the Morphine ER and Oxycodone for breakthrough pain. I hated the withdrawal symptoms from the morphine that I weened myself off. Do not ween yourself without Dr. supervision. Talk to your Dr. about your concerns, and if you are still not sure, talk to a Pharmacist. Do not take 2 short acting narcotics together.

morphine is the strongest you can get. Percocets are the next step down. And no, you shouldn't take them at the same time!

They are a different drug. You should be fine. Just don't take them both at once. And if you feel like you are having a reaction to the morphine, throwing up, small small pupils, trouble breathing, call a doc right away. Some people are allergic to certain pain meds.

If you can take Percocet, you can more than likely tolerate Morphine just fine. Oxycodone is a manmade opiate where Morphine is derived naturally. Percocet also contains tylenol (aceteminophen).

Yes you can take them both at the same time. Morphine is more likely to make yo sick to your stomach. But if you can tolerate one you can most likely tolerate the other. The percoset is going to be the better pain pill.

it's not a question of brand name as much as it is about dosage of the active painkiller in milligrams. at the same time, if it was prescribed by your doctor, why would it be unsafe? doctors won't prescribe lethal doses. and if it's for recreational use, use your head.

You better talk to your doctor.....or pharmacist...any information that you get in here should be dismissed immediately....we are not professionals...and would only be guessing...about what you can or should take....
