My mum is currently suffering from back pain, it started out as more of an ache, she could still walk but was in some pain. However, now she can't even walk she has constant back pain with jolts of pain stopping her from standing.. everytime she attempts to move she has awful spasms of pain. She is only 38 years old, very fit and healthy usually.. she hasn't had any falls or accidents which may have caused this.

Its been like it for almost 3 days now and the pain is getting unbearable for her. The doctors have prescribed her Naproxen (an anti inflamitry) yesterday and has advised her to take cocodamol (which she has been) but nothing is helping.
Its so so so bad.. to the point we're she couldn't even make it up the stairs last night so she slept on the landing lastnight.

We have no idea whats wrong with her.. we THINK its a trapped nerved. Does anyone have any ideas what it may be? and how long this could last (roughly)? has anyone else been through anything similar?

Any tips you could give her to ease the pain would be great..

Thank you everyone for taking the time to read.

Gemma.

My wife is suffering with the same thing at the moment and has been going through this for the last eight months. My advice is for your mum to contact her gp again and ask for a referral to the hospital.

You should check this sciatica natural treatment http://cure-sciatica.info

Normally, I would not answer a question like this as my expertise is generally in medication but I had severe sciatica while I was pregnant with my 3rd child (after having had twins) and I had sciatica so bad that I was finding it difficult to walk. I tried massage therapy and physical therapy and could not take medication

I went to the chiropractor and the pain was instantly relieved. My hips and lower back were out of alignment because I had carried twins the year before. On occasion a Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) can also work but they usually only work on one joint at a time - the chiropractor will do your whole back which works faster. Anyone who does not believe in chiropractors will tell you they are quacks - don't listen.

I don't necessarily believe that chiropractors can cure things like diabetes but they can definitely relieve some types of back pain especially if a pinched nerve is involved which is usually the cause of sciatica. Try a reputable chiropractor ASAP!

What you have described is exactly what I had. I had an MRI done, and it showed a bulging disc in my lower back which was pinching a nerve. The pain was unbearable for about a week, then I started physio. It hurt ALOT at first, but ended up being the best thing I ever did for it. Accupuncture also helped quite a bit. I'd say it was a good month before I was back to normal though.

The diagnosis if Key. Once they find out what is causing the problem they will be able to treat it. I suffered a massive back spasm caused by weak muscle/over working.

The things that helped my recovery were physio, TENs machine, walking, Pilate's exercise, and avoiding going from hot to cold suddenly.

But your mum is not in that stage yet she is still in the acute stage. Maybe some valium (diazepam) will also help as it is a muscle relaxant well as an anti anxiety medication and it will help her to sleep as well. She may also get relief from a TENS machine too, ask the doctor about these.

The fact is there IS a way to end your back pain – forever – and you can do it without expensive drugs, without harmful treatments or surgery, and without having to live a life filled with pain. Check out this site http://www.fastbackpaincure.com For decades, big pharma has done everything it can to keep the truth from you.

Sure, your medications, massages and gadgets and gizmos help you reduce your daily symptoms. But, they do NOTHING to get to the root of your problems. And, yes, for the most part, your treatments probably do allow you to “maintain” the status quo – keeping you from getting worse, but they’re not really doing anything to help you get any better.

Does she have a pinched nerve or warn out/compressed discs in some vertebrae?

If swelling doesn't go down with anti-inflammatory drugs then you know its not the muscles that are sore. Its something more serious like disc problems or pinched nerve.

Is it her weight that has caused this? Have her see a doctor if she is still like this next week.

The most common causes of hemorrhoids are straining during bowel movements and obesity. Follow these essential hemorrhoid prevention tips and you may not even have to delve into any hemorrhoid treatments https://tr.im/TAxVJ

If you’re straining during bowel movements, there is no doubt that you are suffering from constipation, and obesity only heightens your chance of experiencing these digestive issues. The best solution for hemorrhoids is to not have them at all!

She needs to go back and see a different doctor, sounds like she needs something to stop the muscle spasms, like a mild dose of diazepam. Heat should help relax them as well.
