Tattoos and prescription drugs?

I'm getting a pretty large piece on my ribs this week and am excited but pretty nervous about it. The ribs have a rep of being extremely painful and I want to assure you that I am NOT going to take a pain killer. I want to get the real experience and I know it will be worth the pain.

I have one 3" tattoo on the back of my neck and it didn't really hurt at all (just to give you an idea of my pain tolerance). However, I have a prescription for Xanax (an anti-anxiety med). I was thinking about taking my Xanax before the appointment, but I wanted to make sure it wouldn't affect the healing of the tattoo (blood thinning, etc.). I'm just really nervous and my prescription would really calm me down. Most importantly, I care about the well-being of the tattoo.

This is kind of a weird question, but any input would be appreciated.

I am, no doctor mind you, but I can bet that takig a xanax will not affect the outcome of your tattoo. I know many people who have taken a benzo before gettting inked and their tattoos turned out fine. My friend is a tatto artist and he said it's not a problem.

Basically any medicine you take will thin your blood.

Your best bet is to just deal with it.
