It could be a lot of things, including muscle spasms, or even a broken rib (have you done anything that would cause this?) but it sounds like your glands are stagnant (this can happen even if you haven't been sick). Drink LOTS of WATER (not just any liquid but water) and be sure to get some excercise. Walking is good for activating glands if you're not very active. The glands rely on your physical movement and hydration for circulation--they're not like the heart or digestive system.

If it's just a muscle spasm, soak in a warm bath with a cup of epsom salt in the water. Actually, that will help a little if it's your glands, too (but it's not a replacement for water and excercise).

Do you feel a lump in the area?? Occasionally your lymph nodes will swell and that swelling can cause some minor discomfort.

If no lump and no strenuous work/exercise you've done would tie into the area - aka a pulled muscle - then have a medical professional examine you.

Have you been doing alot of coughing? You can crack a rib that way. See a doctor.
