Does laser surgery for scoliosis correct the spine curve? 10 points!?

Question

I have an S shaped spine and i am supposed to get spinal fusion surgery this winter. I heard about this laser surgery for scoliosis? its suppose to be less invasive? but will it correct the curve? or just stop it from getting worse? has anybody had this? ah sorry so many questions i just need all the info i can get. also how is the pain? is it worth it?!!?!

it's a new technique as laser used for disc herniation before but not much for scoliosis

for sure it will correct the curve, as any back surgery it must be invasive with tissue cut so there will be pain

laser will provide less tissues cut so better result later with rehabilitation ( as the muscles losses 60% of there power when they are cut) and you will probably leave the hospital earlier than if you went with the classic procedure

but most importantly have a talk with your Surgeon and compare between the two procedure and go for what you feel is best for you

Hello hon, I am sorry but apparently you are not a candidate for laser surgery or they would certainly do that because it is the least invasive kind.for the back. I have had spinal fusion in my back 16 years ago, The laser isn't going to be used because of the amount of curve already in your back is already to extensive to be held in place with laser. Laser is normally used if it is just a couple of ruptured vertebra in a small area. Due to your s shape it must be fixed to stay in one position for life and that is fusion.

I would imagine that the fusion would be worth it in your case because scoliosis will only get worse in time and become very painful. I knew a lady whose belly button was on the side of her waist and she was humped over.

In fusion, the bones are bonded together and will never move again. You will not be able to bend that part of the back again but you learn to live with it and go on.
